About Me
Originally from Queens, NY, I have been calling Greenville, South Carolina my home for over 14 years. I am attending the MS Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Pennsylvania Western University, after which I will pursue my license for clinical practice as a counselor. I have a background in commercial art, having earned my bachelor’s degree at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York in 1995. I also hold NASM certifications for personal training, wellness, and nutrition. My experience as a teacher and coach is diverse. I have taught at some of the top art schools in New York City and I have helped motivate and improve the general health and well-being of clients through training sessions and education.
In my care and commitment to my future clients, I would like to incorporate different modalities depending on the situation and need, but also like to consider the “whole you”, and how your experiences, emotions, and physical being are interwoven, My approaches may include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Humanistic therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), exercise psychoeducation, and wellness. I have more recently become curious about exploring experiential dynamic psychotherapy (AEDP), and internal family systems (IFS).
My desire to become a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) stems from my journey to accept my neuro-divergence and my personal history of family trauma. As the child of a schizoaffective parent, I was unaware of the lasting emotional impacts my family endured. I am thankful to my therapist for guiding me to healthier coping methods and helping me accept myself. I wish to gain the education and skills to pass this form of healing on to other people.
In addition to my pursuit of a career as a counselor, I am also a proud parent, a fitness enthusiast, a figurative artist, and a board game aficionado.
